Privacy policy

This policy explains how HomeSec Business Finance Limited (NZBN 9429047936010), trading as Tax Debt Loans ("we", "us", "our") handles personal and business information when you use this website or enquire about business finance. We manage personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020 and its Information Privacy Principles.

Information we collect

We only collect what we need to understand your enquiry and help arrange business finance. That can include:

  • your name, phone number, email address and role in the business;
  • business details such as the business name, NZBN, Companies Office details, industry, trading history, region and revenue;
  • details of tax owed to Inland Revenue, including tax types, amounts, letters received and any arrangements;
  • how much you want to borrow, what it's for and when you need it;
  • details of any property you may offer as security;
  • identification documents, financial information such as bank statements and financial statements, and details of existing debts;
  • credit information, once you decide to proceed; and
  • information about other people connected to the application, such as co-directors, shareholders or guarantors.

Most information comes directly from you, through our online enquiry form, by phone or by email. We also record how you found our website (for example the page you first landed on and the page you enquired from) so we can understand which information is useful. With your authorisation, we may obtain information from credit reporters, identity and bank-statement verification services, public registers such as the Companies Register, and professionals you nominate, such as your accountant.

How we use it

  • to respond to your enquiry and talk with you about suitable options, including options that don't involve borrowing;
  • to assess and arrange business finance with the lender best suited to your situation. We don't send your details to a long list of lenders;
  • to verify your identity and the details you give us;
  • to meet our legal obligations, including anti-money laundering requirements;
  • to run our business, keep records, handle complaints and improve our website and services; and
  • to tell you about other business finance options that may suit you. You can opt out at any time.

Who we share it with

To arrange your finance we may share information with the lender and funders involved in your application, related finance businesses that assess and settle business loans, credit reporters (only once you choose to proceed), verification providers, valuers (for property-secured loans), lawyers acting on the transaction, professional advisers, our IT and service providers, and government agencies where the law requires it. Some providers may store data outside New Zealand; where that happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure your information is protected to a comparable standard.

Your authorisation

When you submit an enquiry, you authorise us to collect, use and share your information for the purposes in this policy, and to contact you by phone, text and email about your enquiry. Enquiring doesn't involve a credit check; we'll ask before any credit check happens.

If you give us information about someone else, such as a co-director or guarantor, you confirm you're authorised to do so and that you've told them about this policy.

Security and retention

We take reasonable steps to protect personal information against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification or disclosure, and other misuse. We keep information only as long as we need it for a lawful purpose, then destroy or de-identify it.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you. To make a request or a privacy complaint, contact us through our contact page marked "Privacy request", or write to us at 152 Fanshawe Street, Auckland 1010. We'll respond within the timeframes the Privacy Act requires. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
